Wow! I am in awe! I feel truly inspired to be more fit and have a healthier lifestlye. I am on week 2 of working on my elliptical. I am drinking lots more water and watching what I eat. Thanks for all the wonderful info.
Carolyn from Texas wrote to thank us for being her cheerleaders from afar:
Thank you for what you do on the blog. I feel like I have found a virtual cheering section for my journey to better health and fitness…so encouraging, and positive and real. Thank you for the time you put into it.
She also had a couple of questions that might be swirling in your Badass heads, too:
I am going to go to my first early morning Step class tomorrow at 5:30am and I am a little worried. Should I eat something before I go? I was thinking I should have something on my stomach for what I hope will be about an hour-long workout. Or should I not have anything? If I should eat, what would be good to have? I was thinking a half of a banana, or some hard-boiled egg whites…I usually work-out after work, on the treadmill or elliptical and then do some upper body weight resistance, and I try to have a small snack before I leave work and head to the gym.
I told her to have a banana and hardboiled egg whites, or banana with one hardboiled egg. Oatmeal is good, too. All of those things will put some fuel in your body for exercise, but they're not too heavy. So they'll "sit" well in your stomachs at that early hour.
Michele brought coconut water to her bikram yoga class and is officially a coconut water convert: I have drunk coconut water before during and after Bikram and I must say I dont feel as tired after the class! It can be a litte sweet and needs to be ice cold! I'm gonna stick with it! I find Bikram very tough but am feeling much stronger and flexible less aches and pains as a result! The coconut water will become part of my kit bag for Bikram, thank you.
So what does all this mail tell me? It tells me that we are learning and getting motivation from each other every day. When we hit the gym, we're using the workouts on this blog as a new challenge. When we go for a cookie, we think, But what would the Badass Army say?
That, Badasses, is totally what this is all about! So enjoy another Badass week: Try something new at the gym. Make a new healthy dish. Eat an extra piece of fruit!
Also, I want to thank the folks at Zico for sending me a case of their coconut water, after reading my post about all its hydrating, replenishing goodness! It was totally unexpected, but totally appreciated. I'm thinking we should make it a prize of some sort for a fitness challenge, maybe? What do you guys think? Let me know! Keep the mail comin,' because it makes me smile every time.
Coming tomorrow: Not all protein and energy bars are created equal. A breakdown of what's what.
